Overview

What is a performance air intake?

An engine is, in essence, an air pump: the more cool, oxygen-rich air it can take in, the more efficiently it burns fuel and the more power it makes. Factory intakes are designed for packaging and noise rather than flow.

A performance intake replaces the restrictive airbox and filter with a high-flow filter and smoother tubing, and on turbocharged cars it works alongside the intercooler to deliver cooler, denser air. It is one of the most effective upgrades you can make without major modification, and the natural foundation for a remap.

Benefits

What you can expect.

01

Improved airflow

More cool, dense air reaches the engine, improving combustion and power delivery.

02

Sharper response

Better airflow means a quicker reaction when you press the throttle.

03

Induction sound

Many systems add a distinctive, sporting intake note under acceleration.

04

Engineered systems

From carbon-fibre Eventuri housings to Ramair and K&N kits, chosen to suit your car.

05

Petrol and diesel

We fit intake systems for performance petrol and diesel vehicles alike.

06

Fitting included

Trade partnerships allow us to include professional fitting with every system we supply.

Intake and remap

An intake improves airflow; a Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap then recalibrates fuelling, boost and timing to use it. The combination gives noticeably stronger performance without extensive modification. Book them together and we will plan the work as one visit.

How we work

A considered process, from first call to handover.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We talk through the car, how you use it and what you want from it, then recommend only what is worthwhile.

  2. 02

    Health check

Diagnostics before any change, so we know the car is healthy and fit for the work.

  3. 03

    Bespoke calibration

Software and parts matched to your specific vehicle, never a generic off-the-shelf solution.

  4. 04

    Verification & handover

Post-work checks, then we walk you through what was done. Your original software is kept on file.

Reached out to Callum on email to ask about some upgrades for my Audi S4, told him what I wanted and he recommended the right parts for the job. He even took the time to expand on what I could possibly do in the future if I needed it as well as the cost vs benefit comparison. I had my exhaust and air intake upgraded on this occasion. Callum fitted a cat-back Milltek system which gives the exact sound I was after. He even took the time to show me the stock pipes afterwards and explain where I’ll benefit from the new one vs the old.

Callum, very polite, knowledgeable and excellent guy, did an amazing job fitting an exhaust, coil packs, spark plugs, induction kit and a remap, and it all works and sounds brilliant. I would not hesitate to use Pro Tuning again.

I had my Audi A1 remapped by Callum recently and the difference is amazing. Better acceleration, more torque and now averaging almost 60mpg on a long run, 45–50mpg around town. Throttle and turbo response so much better.

FAQs

Performance Air Intakes: your questions answered.

What are the benefits of a performance intake?

Improved airflow, sharper throttle response and a sportier induction sound, with gains that are amplified when paired with a remap.

Which brands do you fit?

We install trusted performance brands including Eventuri, Ramair and K&N.

Will an intake improve MPG?

In some cases, yes, particularly on longer journeys at a steady throttle.

Is it suitable for petrol and diesel engines?

Yes. We offer intake solutions for both.

Do I need other modifications?

No. An intake works well as a standalone upgrade, though the best results come when it is paired with a remap or exhaust.

How long does fitting take?

Most installations take around 1–3 hours depending on the vehicle.

Will it affect my warranty?

It depends on your manufacturer. We recommend checking with your provider.
